Welcome to the Maltby Miners' Welfare Band Official Website

Welcome to the Bands' official web. We hope that you find what you are looking for as this is very much a work in progress project at the moment. MMWB is a village band tucked away in a small corner of South Yorkshire. The Band has its origins as so many bands did in the British Coal Industry. Sadly as we are all aware that the industry has largely diappeared. Thankfully Maltby still has a working pit, but for how long is another question. The band continues to have strong links with the NUM and is regularly seen at functions organised by the Yorkshire Area.

We at present play in the 4th section of the Yorkshire Area and usually take part in a number of contests around the area as well as competing at the 'Areas' in March. We have a very busy concert calendar, doing as many as 40 jobs in a year many of which are 'regulars'.

The Band rehearses on Thursday at 7:30pm. and on Sunday at 10:45am. We welcome visitors who may like to come and play with us. We are also willing to talk to players who are looking to play with a new band.

We rehearse in the Welfare sports pavilion which is situated on Outgang Lane Maltby. Outgang Lane is off Muglet Lane which in turn is off the A634 Maltby to Blyth road.

Please note for the time being we are rehearsing Tuesday 8.00pm to 9.30pm and Thursday as normal.
